The way forward – vision and mission of TLRDS

The Vision and Mission of the Tagin Language Research and Development Society (TLRDS),as enshrined in the Aims and Objectives of its Byelaws, are both comprehensive and purpose driven. They reflect a clear and urgent commitment to the preservation, promotion, and institutional recognition of the Tagin language. While the articulation is elaborate, it remains sharply focused on the core imperatives of linguistic survival, cultural dignity, and generational transmission. These guiding principles serve not only as a philosophical foundation but also as a strategic framework for action—recognizing the critical need to safeguard the Tagin language amidst evolving social, and educational, administrative landscapes.

Visions of the TLRDS

The Vision of the TLRDS, as enshrined in its Bylaws and foundational objectives, is rooted in the collective aspiration to revitalize, institutionalize, and normalize the Tagin language across all spheres of life. The principal tenets of this vision are as follows :

  • Universal Proficiency: To ensure that every member of the Tagin community—irrespective of age or generation—speaks and understands the Tagin language fluently.
  • Educational Integration: To incorporate the Tagin language into the formal education system, from primary schools to university-level curricula, thereby fostering linguistic competence from an early age.
  • Institutional Recognition: To secure oAicial recognition of Tagin across all government departments and institutions, including its inclusion as a qualifying subject in state-level public service examinations.
  • National Status: To advocate for the inclusion of Tagin in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution of India, thereby aAirming its status as one of the recognized languages of the nation.
  • Cultural and Functional Medium: To promote the use of Tagin as the primary medium of expression in all cultural, artistic, literary, ceremonial, social, political, and oAicial functions within the Tagin society.
  • Community Fluency: To cultivate a linguistic environment where the Tagin language is not only preserved but actively spoken, celebrated, and transmitted across generations.

Mission of the TLRDS

The mission of TLRDS is to serve as the principal institution for the preservation,advancement, and institutionalization of the Tagin language through strategic, inclusive, and culturally rooted initiatives. The Society is committed to:

  • Linguistic Documentation and Research: Undertaking rigorous research to document the phonetics, grammar, vocabulary, and oral traditions of the Tagin language, ensuring scholarly integrity and cultural authenticity.
  • Resource Development:Creating and disseminating high-quality educational materials—including grammar books, dictionaries, rhymes, charts, and digital applications—to support language learning and literacy.
  • Capacity Building and Training:Organizing workshops, seminars, and training programs to empower educators, youth, and community leaders with the tools and knowledge to teach and promote Tagin effectively.
  • Community Mobilization:Inspiring collective responsibility and pride in the language through campaigns, cultural events, and outreach programs that encourage everyday use and intergenerational transmission of Tagin.
  • Technological Integration:Leveraging digital platforms and mobile applications to make Tagin learning accessible, interactive, and relevant to modern contexts.
  • Cultural Revitalization: Promoting the use of Tagin as a medium of expression in arts,literature, ceremonies, and public discourse, thereby reinforcing its role as a living language of identity and unity.
